Film: California, New York, Minneapolis, in-between

I've been keeping rolls of film in my camera bag lately. It's fun to return to the analog lifestyle where certain elements of choice are taken out of the equation. I like film because I tend not to alter it after I get my scans back. The colors, texture, tone, and grain are a surprise where as digitally, post-processing makes me feel indecisive. Here are some images from A recent trip to California (San Francisco & Point Reyes/Inverness), a roll walking through Minneapolis, and some from New York, while on tour with Poliça & s t a r g a z e.

Prints are available, just ask!

When it comes to planning trips, I can get a little ahead of myself. Also, I recently found out about Google Maps's custom map tool. So, when Bob and I decided to make a friends Northern California wedding the beginning of a 10 day long road trip down the coast, I got to work. We ended up crafting a pretty amazing route-- complete with a Big Sur detour through mountain pass after mountain pass that blew both of our minds. At the end of it all we tallied close to 1400 miles on our rental car.

The path our faithful red Elantra (nicknamed Cilantro) took us. Starting in Fairfax, up to Healdsburg, down Highway 1 to Inverness / Pt. Reyes, back to San Francisco, down to Monterey, then on to our Insane Detour which spit us out just before San Luis Obispo, to Santa Barbara, to Malibu, to LA and then Joshua Tree, our final destination

As some of you know, it's really hard to take photographs out the window of a moving vehicle. Especially photographs that encapsulate the bewildering landscapes that we passed by. I trashed a lot of photos from this trip in favor of writing about them but here are some that I like.

A big thanks to my Favorite #1 Friend and Very Super Model, Bob. Without him, none of this would have happened. Literally.
